To use these features, ensure that sprints are enabled.

To add a sprint to a project, select a sprint from the sprint selector.

Note: This article refers to projects. Depending on your configuration, you may see alternate terminology used in your environment.

Create a new sprint and add it to a project

Create a new sprint by first clicking the sprint selector, then selecting create a newsprint.

Sprint name. The name of the sprint.

Sprint start. The date when you want the sprint to start.

Sprint duration. The duration of the sprint in weeks.

Sprint capacity. The capacity of the sprint in days or points. This will normally be your expected sprint velocity if you estimate using points or the number of days work you expect to be able to complete during the sprint.

Points per day. Is used to convert point based estimates into days and day based estimates into points. If your work estimates are only entered / viewed in days you can ignore this value.

If the resource is a named resource, enter the points you expect them to complete each day. If the resource is a resource group, enter the points you expect an average resource in the group to complete each day.

Setting the sprint team

From the edit sprint window, you can set the sprint team. Select the add resource to sprint link and add the resources. If you assign work in the sprint to a resource who is not in the sprint team, they will be added to the team for you.

For the sprint team members you can view a breakdown of work and remaining supply.

Sprint Work (days). Remaining days work the resource has assigned in the sprint.

Sprint Work (points). Remaining points the resource has assigned in the sprint.

Supply (days). The supply / capacity days the resource has through the remaining period of the sprint. Use this to understand the number of days a resource could be utilized on the sprint for.

How these are calculated depends on the start date of the sprint.

  • If the sprint start date is before the current week start date, the capacity, days and points are calculated from the current week to the sprint end date.

  • If the sprint start date is later than the current week, the capacity, days and points are calculated from the sprint start date to the sprint end date.

Changing the sprint start date

Once a sprint has been created, the sprint start date can be changed by selecting move sprint in the project actions menu (priority view and project view only).

Deleting a sprint

Select delete sprint to delete the sprint. The work assigned to the sprint will remain - but will no longer be allocated to a sprint.
