Use the utilization charts option to review overall capacity vs. demand (sum of the allocations).


Note: This article refers to projects. Depending on your configuration, you may see alternate terminology used in your environment.



Current month allocation data will include all allocation data for the month (complete and remaining). 

Current month capacity data will include all capacity for the month. 


Any allocations that are not assigned to a role, resource or project are not included.


Allocations for excluded projects or work below the cut off line is not included in the allocations or utilization calculation.





Capacity levels are indicated in green. Demand is indicated using vertical bars. Demand bars higher than capacity mean demand exceeds capacity for the month.





Select a bar segment to understand the capacity, allocations and availability.




The bottom grid provides a summary of the capacity and demand.





When viewing by role or team, swap the bottom grid to view allocation or availability data for the role or team.

Choose how you want data summarized in the chart - by project, by role or by team.





Days or FTE


View the data in days or FTE.

Filtering


You can filter the data by using portfolio, project, role or team filters.


  • If you choose to not filter a project in, demand for the project will be excluded from the charts.


  • If you filter a portfolio in, only demand for the projects in the portfolio will be included in the charts.


  • If you exclude a role or team, demand and capacity for resources in the role or team will be excluded.






Stack the bars


Expand the project section and select the cog to choose which criteria to stack the bars by. Stack by score to help identify lower priority projects that can be excluded first. Stacking is only available in the capacity by project view.
